CINEMA 4D Helps The Mill Gain VES Award For Dr Who

MAXON Computer, the developer of CINEMA 4D and BodyPaint 3D, today announced that CINEMA 4D played a key role in helping The Mill, a world-leading visual effects company, win a visual effects award from the esteemed Visual Effects Society (VES) for its work on Doctor Who, the world’s longest-running science fiction TV series.

This is the first time the series has won an award for visual effects since the opening episode was broadcast by the BBC in 1963. The Mill was recognized with the coveted award for ‘Outstanding Matte Paintings in a Broadcast Program or Commercial’ associated with the Doctor Who episode entitled ‘Silence in the Library’, during the 7th Annual Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards show in Los Angeles on February 23, 2009.

The Mill Scores With The Damned United

The Mill, working with BBC Films has recently completed work on the critically acclaimed ‘The Damned United’. Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by David Pearce and adapted for screen by Peter Morgan, (The Queen and Frost/Nixon) the film was directed by the award winning Tom Hooper (Longford and John Adams).

The Damned United plays out the humorously dark story of Brian Clough’s doomed 44 day tenure as the manager of the reigning champions of English football in the 70’s, Leeds United.

The Mill Help Norwich Union Change to AVIVA

The Mill has collaborated with AMV BBDO and Serious Pictures to produce two new starry spots for the AVIVA rebrand. Entitled ‘Name Change’ the commercials celebrate the change in name of Norwich Union to AVIVA using a host of A-list celebrities. Directed by Vaughan Arnell the tongue and cheek commercials include appearances from a top Hollywood star, a comic, musicians and a famous model.
